Directionsferry map

The island is reached by ferry boat from mainland Istanbul leaving on the European side from Kabataş, or on the Asian side from Kadıköy, Bostancı, Maltepe or Kartal. Fares are inexpensive and the faster ferries take 35 minutes; check, and for schedules. Look for the ‘Adalar’ (‘Islands’) service. Boat taxis are also available.

  • From Atatürk Airport take the shuttle bus to Bakırköy or Yenikapı (cost 5.5TL spring 2015), the IDO SeaBus to Bostancı (9TL spring 2015), and then a ferry Bostancı to Büyükada Adalar (c.5-7.50TL depending on line and speed). Alternatively you can take the shuttle bus to Taksim (11TL spring 2015), then use the short one-stop metro funicular railway to descend to Kabataş, where you can catch a direct ferry to Büyükada.
  • From Sabiha Gökçen Airport take a short taxi ride to Kartal or Maltepe, which offer ferries to the island.

Ascot Hotel is five minutes’ walk from the landing point on Büyükada island. We will be delighted to welcome you at the landing point and escort you, with porter service for your luggage, to the hotel.

Do please check timetables for your travel dates before travelling, as times and availability of the boat services can change. If you need advice about sailing times, please email or ring us.

If you are looking for flights to Istanbul we recommend SkyScanner. We can hold reservations for a short period while you confirm flights.

Please note that as a foreign visitor you need a visa to enter Turkey. If possible, buy an e-visa by internet; otherwise you may be able to buy a visa at the airport before going through passport control, but you may face delay and have to pay a higher cash price.
